patching vs. fixing
i define patching as a temporary solution and fixing as a better solution. i cant say, it’s a permanent solution for i dont believe in such. problems vary from time to time and a permanent solution for a current problem might not solve future problems. and, we all know that we can’t foresee all future problems.
observation tells me that, more often than not, filipinos have the tendency to do quick fixes every time they have a problem. reasons vary from unwillingness to extend effort to any-fix-will-do mentality.
let’s take philippine roads as an example.
whenever there is a mutilated(crack, uneven, etc) road somewhere in manila the only fix(if that road is lucky) that one will see is when the government dumps a cement and lets it dry – that’s it. i know that it might be their standard procedure, but when you see that the whole road is mutilated and they are just using their quick fix – there must be something wrong there.
