taal trip: talisay, tagaytay adventure

last april 27, ethan (my son) and i went to talisay batangas, via tagaytay. it’s unplanned, unscheduled and most of all un-announced. anna (my wife) wasn’t warned about it.

from sta rosa, ethan asked for a trip to paseo de sta rosa. it’s sort of a mall/park. i was looking for a steel cap brush but to no avail. i decided to drive towards tagaytay thinking maybe there’s a paint supply shop on the way. we got to the end of the mountain pass and didn’t see any shop. we continued to the peak where people’s park is and along the way i saw the sign to talisay. and because for months i’ve always wanted to see the road for my self, i was tempted to take the route. and so i turned the car to the right. here’s the view of the signpost.

the trip down the curves were amazing and scary. downhill, the hairpins were steeper and were inviting to speed up. but, i didn’t. i’d rather slowdown and watch the view of taal lake which is breathtaking. every curve we take is very exhilarating and reminds me of the anime initialD and the japanese mountain pass. but this is even better. i dont have any pics to brag about it because im busy concentrating.

after passing a barrio, there’s a spot where you can stopover to relax and watch the view of the lake. it says on the sign “laeuna de taal” which i dont know what it means. i was thinking it was intentionally mispelled from “laguna de taal” since it would say “lake of taal” literally.

talisay town proper offers it’s province as a get-away destination. the town has the tipical feel of a philippine province. you relax, walk and visit the town. the roads are not that wide and it’s advisable not to take the car. i wanted to stay but the trip was unplanned. then, we turned our backs and head home. we stopped at the town hall for a picture then turned left because ethan saw the edge of the lake.

talisay public market is where we ended up. the market was clean and some of the shops were closed. but the lake is what captured our interest. the water’s a little dirty but the view of taal lake and volcano will take you back to nature.

on the way back, we headed to the peaople’s park which is the highest point in tagaytay. another philippine nature’s finest. you can even see manila, laguna and batangas from the top. i have nothing more to say. this photo will speak for itself.

the whole trip was about 2 and a half hour drive. and i guess that’s exhausting for some, even for ethan.

other photos are here.
